Could YOUR artwork make the cover of the 2019 Ilkley Carnival programme?
Don’t brush it off! The annual creative competition returns for its seventh year and aims to motivate Children across the LS29 district think outside the box and colour inside the lines.
Championing this year’s theme ‘Shows and Musicals’, the annual competition hopes to inspire local children (5-16) to produce a drawing, painting or digital design to feature on the front cover of the carnival programme which is read by more than 10,000 people who visit the showground on the 6 May Bank Holiday event.
Last year’s winner was the ‘TV programme’ themed, eye-catching image of a rainbow-patterned television being watched from a vibrant green sofa. It was the creation of 10-year-old Ghyll Royd School pupil Evie Connor who won a spectacular prize from competition sponsors Bradford Grammar School – an art set to further hone her own skills AND a bespoke arts workshop for herself and her classmates at Bradford Grammar School – once the home of internationally renowned artist David Hockney!
The competition celebrates winners from three different age categories (5-8, 9-11 and 12-16) and all winners receive their own artwork, beautifully framed by Weaverbirds in Ilkley and enjoy a wonderful goody bag from Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms.
Entry deadline is Friday 22nd March with all submissions being delivered to Approach PR Ltd, 32-34 The Grove, Ilkley, LS29 9EE. Please ensure all details including name, age, school and contact details are clearly written on the back.
